BRINGING THE HEAT - Bruce Whitehead Taking Fire and Fury to Championship Fight

HOUSTON - The 105th edition of Fury Fighting Championship will feature a card full of exciting bouts, and its main event will be the interim welterweight championship between the #15 welterweight of the US Southwest, Bruce Whitehead, and the #55 North America welterweight Victor Valenzuela. Whitehead expects the bout will be one full of explosive, fiery action.

“Early in my career, people were saying I was boring, I couldn’t make exciting fights,” said Whitehead, in an interview with Clear Life Media. “So, I made sure I came in my next pro fight, my third pro fight, I made sure to go to war and make sure it was exciting. And since then, we’ve been on a rollercoaster of nothing but brawls and slugfests. Any time I go in [the cage], I’m looking to go to war and put on a show.”

For his part, Whitehead of Conroe, Texas, has accumulated a record of 6-1 over his 11-year career, with one knockout. His most recent fight was only two months ago for the 103rd Fury Fighting Championship in March 2025, winning by submission against opponent Kenan Jackson.

Though his opponent hasn’t seen the inside of the octagon since March 2024, Victor Valenzuela of Chile boasts a record of twice as many professional fights as Whitehead and nearly twice the number of wins. Valenzuela’s professional record is an incredible 11-3, with a staggering five of his wins being determined by knockout.

“I know he’s super tough… probably my toughest opponent that I’ve had to date,” said Whitehead. “He’s a scrapper, I love his style. I think he’s a great fighter, and I’m definitely excited and honored to share the cage with him.”

Whitehead’s career outside of the cage leaves him no stranger to a vicious opponent. As a full-time firefighter at Woodlands FD, he’s found his flame of passion in being a first responder and helping people in danger. The excitement of his job has allowed him to gain some perspective on his relationship with professional fighting.

“I wish I could tell you I want to be this big world champion,” said Whitehead. “I really just fight to make myself a better man, at the end of the day, and whatever comes with that.”
